Bunkerhill Health raises $55M total to scale Carebricks agentic AI platform inside health systems

Khosla Ventures led the Series B with Sequoia Capital, Felicis, Optum Ventures, and Y Combinator participating, bringing Bunkerhill's total funding to $55M. The Carebricks platform lets health systems build and deploy their own AI agents across clinical, operational, and administrative domains — including cardiology imaging review, post-discharge follow-up identification, prior authorization navigation, and registry management. The key idea in Bunkerhill’s Carebricks is that it sells the capacity to build agents rather than a specific prebuilt agent. This is a deliberate architectural bet: health systems have highly idiosyncratic workflows, data models, and governance requirements, and a vendor that ships one-size-fits-all clinical AI agents will always lose to a platform that lets the health system encode its own protocols and operational rules into the agent behavior.

The 20x revenue growth in a year is the number that makes the round legible. Khosla and Sequoia do not lead health-IT Series B rounds on the basis of vision alone; there is a working revenue model here. The customer concentration is also noteworthy: Cleveland Clinic, UTMB, and Intermountain Health are not small community hospitals experimenting with point solutions. These are large, operationally sophisticated health systems that buy software carefully. Getting all three in a single year’s cohort suggests Carebricks is solving a real coordination problem rather than a synthetic demo problem.

The Optum Ventures participation is the most strategically significant investor in the round. Optum — the technology and services arm of UnitedHealth Group — is simultaneously a potential distribution partner (through its health system relationships) and a potential acquirer. Agentic AI platforms that run inside health systems are exactly the kind of infrastructure layer that large health-IT incumbents have been acquiring to add AI orchestration capability on top of their existing EHR and analytics integrations.

Watch for the agent governance story. The biggest operational risk in “health systems build their own agents” platforms is auditability and change management: when a Carebricks-built cardiology agent recommends a follow-up that a physician disagrees with, how is that disagreement captured, escalated, and fed back into agent improvement? The health systems that sustain agentic AI deployments at scale will be the ones where that loop is well-instrumented, not just the ones that ship the first agent fastest.
